Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping)

Emotional freedom technique is a therapy technique also known as tapping. It evolved from an earlier technique called Thought Field Therapy (which many people have seen Paul McKenna use on his TV programmes and seminars).

It is often described as "acupuncture without the needles" because the points you tap on are the energy meridian points on your body - the same points where an acupuncturist would insert a needle. Different meridian points on your body represent different emotions and physical symptoms.

Important and interesting things to understand about this technique are that it is very fast and effective, in fact it has over 85% success rate. It often succeeds where other techniques have failed and once learned it can be practiced at home so it is a very cost-effective method of therapy.

Tapping is used for various reasons and to help various symptoms, including:

The treatment is completely safe and extremely calming.

Gary Craig, who developed EFT, believes that it must be a very ethical process where the client is able to use the tools for themselves as opposed to becoming reliant on the therapist, and that results should be both fast and effective. Some of his clients had been in counselling and therapy situations for years but found that a limited number of EFT sessions eliminated both their symptoms and the cause of the symptoms in a short time.

Clients can either use this as a method on its own or request and experience it as part of an ongoing coaching process.

Testimonials for EFT

"I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU!!!!! I felt completely drained after I left you with loads going around in my head, however at the same time I felt very calm and somehow much stronger. I have tapped and 7/11 at times but I have never experienced the symptoms since seeing you and learning EFT in the way I felt them before that day. I can talk about the subject without any emotion or anxiety attached, and this has never before been the case. This is such a great improvement for me. Thanks again."

"I was still experiencing shock following a road traffic accident that I was involved in the week previously. Eight rounds of tapping in one session removed all negative thoughts and feelings resulting from the accident. I now use tapping for various other symptoms."

"EFT helped me get over a lifelong fear of hospitals. I couldn't even walk into a hospital or visit someone in hospital without being physically sick or fainting. Three sessions of EFT have helped me to the point where I no longer have any symptoms at all and I can enter hospitals feeling completely in control. If I do get a slight flutter of nerves I know that I can quickly tap it away.

Because I have found so many other uses for EFT and attended so many great courses with Lynn I decided to attend the EFT workshop. I learned that you can use EFT on virtually everything - even for pain relief. I’m really glad I decided to go to the workshop because even though EFT cured my hospital phobia I now know so much more about how to use it for myself that I feel comfortable to utilise it more fully."

"I've always had an anxiety around answering the phone. I don't know why or where it comes from, I don't even know how it started. But as an Administration Manager, it was becoming a huge problem. Two sessions of EFT taught me how to keep this anxiety under control."

"I had recently suffered bereavement and found I was getting painful tension in my neck and shoulders. My doctor couldn't help. Three rounds of tapping in one session with Lynn took the pain away. Further sessions of EFT and Life Coaching combined together helped me to deal with the bereavement."

"Whenever I get stressed I get terrible pains and headaches. Nothing cures them. One session of EFT completely removed a very bad headache and further sessions of EFT and Life Coaching removed the build up of stress and how I was dealing with it. I tap on myself daily and can now control my own symptoms."

"My son who is 4 is very volatile. Lynn told me that EFT works wonderfully with children in many ways. Rather than try to catch him when he was distressed and tap with him (which I can sometimes do) Lynn suggested that I tap with him every night as a general calming and self esteem building process for him and something nice we can do together as a quality time bedtime ritual. It works wonders."
